Klein Plating Works, Inc. strives to provide the best quality plating at the lowest reasonable price but never at the expense of our environment. Many of our employees are avid outdoors people who enjoy nature and its beauty. KPW maintains a full-time trained staff person whose primary responsibility is running and maintaining its in-house wastewater treatment operations. The company has recently invested significant capital in making sure its wastewater treatment facilities not only ensure strict compliance today but for many years to come.

Electroplating Facility Waste Treatment - Klein Plating WorksSome of the waste treatment equipment used includes:

  • Digital pH and ORP calibrated controllers
  • Segregated waste streams
  • Proprietary software that allows for 24-hour monitoring anywhere in the world
  • Metering pumps
  • ICP testing of wastewater
  • Visual and audible alarms for notifying operators of any potential problems

Plating processes use hazardous materials that are unavoidable and must be handled properly to ensure compliance with stringent Federal, State, and Local laws. All process water and spent solutions are treated in-house by means of a controlled and constantly monitored system of pH neutralization, flocculation, coagulation, precipitation, and filtering. This process neutralizes hazardous materials and removes metals and other hazardous elements from the water. Once it meets or exceeds all the established compliance standards, the water is discharged to the City of Erie for further processing and re-use.

All of the hazardous material that was precipitated out of the water is collected and sent to an EPA certified recycler for incineration and reclaim. This is a more expensive disposal method but we at Klein Plating take great pride in knowing our waste streams are recycled. We would like our customers to know they have partnered with a plater who is concerned about maintaining the beauty and sanctity of the environment in which we all enjoy and live in.
